You love your church, and you know that it brings joy to your life. The church has a calling to help people, and it’s important to try to have a positive impact on the community. Perhaps you want to focus on helping your church with community outreach. What are some practical ways that the church can impact the community?

Vacation Bible School

Many churches have Vacation Bible School (VBS) programs. During the summer, many parents have a difficult time because they can’t afford daycare. VBS programs give parents a safe place where their kids can be during the day while also knowing that they’ll learn important lessons about God. Having these programs in place will help many people while also allowing your church to reach the youth of your city.

Cleaning up the Community

Cleaning up the community is a great way to give back. There might be areas of your town that need a bit of help with cleaning. This type of community outreach might involve cleaning up litter in local parks, washing graffiti off of buildings, and doing other such work. Doing helpful things to make your local town nicer is a great way to give back.

Food Banks

Food banks help those who are in need. There are many of those who are less fortunate in the community who need a bit of help putting groceries on the table. Many churches run food banks that help to give members of the community groceries each month. This can help people in a profound way, and it’s something that your church can focus on as a community outreach method.

Sports

Using sports as a community outreach tool can be fruitful. Community sports leagues can be fun for both children and adults. You might want to consider joining a softball league and engaging with the community through sports. It’s a good opportunity to share the gospel and grow your church.

Hosting Events

Hosting events can be a good way to do community outreach as well. Many churches like to do regular community cookouts and celebrations. You might hold special events where people can come and eat food while enjoying the company of goodhearted people. Do this during holidays and other special times of the year.
