About Chris Hilken

To say that Christopher Hilken wears many hats would be an understatement. He lives in San Diego, California, and works as a professor at Summit Bible College, where he teaches a virtual class in Systematic Theology to 80 students at the master’s level. In addition, Christopher is also a student counselor and advisor. He guides his pupils on issues both inside and outside the classroom. After years as a high school and young adult pastor, Christopher has amassed tremendous experience coaching and mentoring people, especially those seeking direction in their lives. He was instrumental in the work he did for years with the Jordan and Union youth groups at North Coast Church.

In addition to teaching and student counseling, Chris Hilken is known for his leadership skills, philanthropy, event planning, fundraising, and public speaking. Chris is frequently invited to travel around the country, engaging the hearts and minds of his audiences on topics such as grief and loss, parenting, and Apologetics. He attends numerous retreats and conferences, such as the Hume Christian Camps and Retreats, where he discusses scientific proof of the existence of God. Christopher Hilken is a widowed father of five, and he openly shares his journey of grief as a way to help other people who are also struggling. There are many reasons people come to hear Chris speak. His elocution skills and natural charisma inject wit and sincerity into his sermons, lectures, and chats. He also comes from a place of sincerity and transparency when he speaks, especially about his own heartbreak and bereavement.

Chris Hilken is also the content director for Dad Tired, an online and in-person community of dads who value their religion, family, and marriage. Founded by Jerrad Lopes, a Christian pastor, hundreds of thousands of men worldwide hear the weekly Dad Tired segments. The podcast is centered around faith-based parenting advice and features subjects such as when is busy too busy? and becoming good rememberers. The Dad Tired movement has motivated over 4 million young men since its inception. The organization holds 1-day, 1-week, and 1-month training courses and an annual retreat. Christopher Hilken frequently attends as a lecturer and to meet other members.

Philanthropy is another big part of Christopher’s life. He is passionate about missionary work and fighting physical and spiritual hunger. Chris Hilken supports organizations like ReachingTheHungry (RtH). They collaborate with missionary groups traveling around the world, spreading the teachings of Jesus while also working to build physical structures like water wells.

His support goes beyond mere financial contributions; he actively involves himself in the planning and execution of various projects. RtH’s initiatives align closely with Chris’s belief in addressing physical and spiritual needs. He is particularly moved by their efforts to provide clean water, understanding its profound impact on communities. Chris often advocates for these causes, using his platform to raise awareness and funds. His hands-on approach includes participating in mission trips, where he helps construct vital infrastructure like water wells and engages with local communities, sharing his faith and listening to their stories. This holistic approach to philanthropy, combining physical aid with spiritual guidance, is a cornerstone of Chris’s life, reflecting his deep empathy and desire to serve others meaningfully.
